Overview

  • Manager Walt Weiss said Wednesday Acuña will not be activated during the current homestand, noting progress in agility and running work.
  • The MRI showed a Grade 1 strain in Acuña’s left hamstring and Weiss said he is still “a ways out,” though Acuña said he feels good and is following trainers’ plans.
  • To cover outfield needs, Atlanta selected José Azócar from Triple-A Gwinnett after placing Acuña on the 10-day injured list on May 3.
  • Catcher Sean Murphy went on the injured list with a fractured left middle finger and the Braves signed veteran Sandy León to bolster depth.
  • The club also updated other injuries: Spencer Schwellenbach is nearing a throwing clearance, Hurston Waldrep is throwing bullpens, Eli White is expected back when eligible, and Joe Jiménez had another knee surgery with no return timeline.
