Brandon Woodruff Begins High-A Rehab Start to Test Injured Shoulder

A productive outing will give Milwaukee a clearer timetable for when the two-time All-Star can return to the major-league rotation.

Overview

  • The Brewers sent Woodruff to High-A Wisconsin to start a rehab assignment and he completed a planned outing that the team called productive.
  • Milwaukee moved him after a stretch of bullpen work and batting-practice facing, with the rehab game intended to evaluate his shoulder in live competition.
  • Woodruff has been on the injured list since early May with shoulder inflammation and the club is taking a cautious approach because of his recent injury history.
  • In six 2026 starts before the IL stint he posted a 3.60 ERA with a 25/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio and his nine-year Brewers record includes a 3.12 ERA and 896/197 K/BB; he is a two-time All-Star.
  • Manager Pat Murphy said Woodruff will rejoin the rotation soon if the shoulder holds up, a return that would strengthen Milwaukee’s pitching depth behind younger starters such as Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison.
