Bradford Body Shop Fire Extinguished After 12-Engine Response

Investigators are now examining how the body shop blaze started.

Overview

  • The fire at Stobarts Body Shop on Mulgrave Street in Bradford, reported Tuesday, drew 12 fire engines with support crews from across West Yorkshire.
  • A tall plume of grey smoke was visible over nearby neighborhoods, and residents were told to keep doors and windows shut to limit smoke exposure.
  • West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service asked people to avoid Mulgrave Street as well as Mount Street, Pickhill Street and Seymor Street during the incident.
  • The service said the blaze has been put out and crews left the scene Tuesday, and fire investigators are now working to determine the cause.
  • One of the shop’s owners told the Telegraph & Argus that a car caught fire, a claim authorities have not confirmed.
