BPSSC Releases Bihar Police SI Prelims Merit List as 35,857 Advance to Mains

The shortlist follows the 20-times-per-vacancy rule for 1,799 posts, with mains dates to be announced on the BPSSC website.

Overview

  • The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission published the prelims result on March 16 in a PDF listing roll numbers at bpssc.bihar.gov.in.
  • A total of 1,036,702 candidates registered for the exam and 726,231 appeared across two shifts held on January 18 and 21.
  • BPSSC declared 29,272 candidates ineligible for procedural violations, citing errors such as wrong roll numbers (14,591), incorrect booklet numbers (9,992), unsigned OMR sheets (529), and missing required Hindi or English paragraphs.
  • After exclusions, 696,959 answer sheets were evaluated and 35,857 candidates were shortlisted category-wise at 20 times the vacancies for the mains stage.
  • Candidates who clear prelims will face a two-paper mains exam in which General Hindi is qualifying with a 30% minimum and General Studies determines merit with 0.2-mark negative marking, followed by PET/PST and medical/document verification.
