Boy, 17, Charged Over Fatal Bentilee Hit-and-Run Before Court Appearance

Detectives are still collecting footage and witness accounts in an active non‑stop collision investigation.

  • Police say the Longton 17-year-old is accused of causing death by dangerous driving plus four related offences, including failing to stop and failing to report.
  • He is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre today.
  • Alex Woodward, 17, was struck on Dawlish Drive in Bentilee at about 6.05pm on 17 October and died in hospital the next morning.
  • Two other teenagers arrested earlier have been released under investigation, and a 20-year-old woman has been bailed with conditions on suspicion of dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.
  • Officers are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage quoting incident 604 of 17 October, with information also accepted anonymously via Crimestoppers.
