Overview
- Officers were called at about 1pm on 1 February to reports of a person pointing what looked like a handgun toward a grassed area on West Lane in Keighley.
- Armed officers attended and arrested a 14-year-old boy at a nearby address on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
- Investigators recovered a BB gun and the teenager was bailed pending further enquiries.
- Keighley Central councillor Mohammed Nazam praised the swift police response and urged residents not to purchase replica weapons.
- Police guidance notes that possession of a realistic-looking BB gun in public can constitute an offence and that all firearms reports are treated as genuine.
