Bowen Yang to Make Broadway Debut in Oh, Mary!

The casting continues the show’s rotating celebrity-lead strategy that producers use to sustain strong ticket demand and support West End, filmed and touring expansions.

Overview

  • Producers and the show’s official Instagram announced on Tuesday that Bowen Yang will play Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! for a 12-week limited engagement from Sept. 15 through Dec. 6.
  • Yang will succeed Meg Stalter, whose final performance is scheduled for Sept. 12, with understudy Hannah Solow set to play Sept. 13 before Yang begins on Sept. 15.
  • Key principal players Phillip James Brannon, Barrett Foa, Bianca Leigh and returning original cast member Tony Macht are slated to remain in the company during Yang’s run.
  • The production has put a new block of tickets on sale through July 10, 2027 and is expanding commercially with a filmed West End run and a North American tour launching in Hartford, Connecticut this fall.
  • Oh, Mary! is a Tony-winning one-act by Cole Escola that has repeatedly used high-profile rotating leads to drive record box-office results at the Lyceum, a pattern that keeps audiences engaged and the company financially secure.
