Overview
- Bournemouth confirmed on Thursday that they have signed 22-year-old Juanlu Sánchez from Sevilla for an initial fee of about £9.4–9.5m with up to £1.7m in add-ons.
- Juanlu arrives with more than 100 senior appearances for Sevilla, six Champions League games, and a 2024 Olympic gold medal for Spain where he scored the semi-final winner.
- The transfer fills Bournemouth’s right-back vacancy created after Alex Jimenez was suspended by the FA and later moved on loan to Fiorentina.
- Club sporting director Tiago Pinto hailed Juanlu’s experience for his age and the player said he was “very happy” to join Bournemouth; he is the club’s third summer signing after António Silva and Álvaro Rodríguez.
- The move strengthens squad depth ahead of a season that includes European matches and could affect playing time at full-back while other transfer business, such as a goalkeeper search and interest in striker Enes Ünal, remains active.
