Bose Delays SoundTouch Cloud Cutoff to May 6, 2026

Bose will replace cloud features with a local-only app, leaving community tools to fill gaps.

Overview

  • The company moved the shutdown of online support from February 18 to May 6, 2026, according to customer communications and its support site.
  • The SoundTouch app will automatically switch to a locally functioning version that handles setup, configuration, and basic controls without a cloud connection.
  • Cloud-dependent capabilities will end, including searching or directly controlling music services, changing presets, and receiving software updates or bug fixes.
  • Bose advises users to record their presets in advance, while playback over Bluetooth, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and AUX, plus volume and transport controls and multi-speaker pairing, will continue to work.
  • To enable third-party solutions, Bose has published the SoundTouch Web-API documentation as open source, inviting developers to rebuild lost features.
