Borderlands 4’s First Story DLC Goes Live With Level-13 Jump-In Option

Early feedback centers on price versus length.

Overview

  • The new story pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, adds the Whispering Glacier region plus a playable Vault Hunter named C4SH.
  • To start on an existing save, you must own the DLC, finish the fourth main quest “A Lot of Process,” and trigger “An Invitation” at Zadra’s Backup Plan to reach Whispering Glacier.
  • Players can instead create a DLC start character at level 13 that begins with 12 skill points, four guns, a grenade, and a repkit.
  • The opening sequence shows Moxxi receiving a letter that whisks the player into the first mission, “On Icebound Shores Abandoned.”
  • The DLC costs $30, with players reporting a two to three hour main path and mixed user scores, while Gearbox describes it as a focused adventure and also sells a $50 bundle covering both story packs.
