Border Force Alert Leads to Airport Arrest of Irlam Robbery Suspect

Overview

• Greater Manchester Police arrested a 22-year-old at Manchester Airport around 4am Sunday after Border Force flagged him as he tried to board a flight to Frankfurt.
• Detectives had been seeking the man in connection with a business robbery on Liverpool Street in Irlam just after 5pm Friday, when staff were threatened and cash was taken.
• No injuries were reported at the scene, where officers recovered a suspected BB gun believed to have been used to threaten workers.
• The suspect is in custody on suspicion of robbery as Salford CID continues what police describe as a live investigation.
