Bomb Threat Emails Hit 18 Mohali District Schools, No Explosives Found

Police now focus on tracing the sender through a cyber investigation.

Overview

  • Emails arrived between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., triggering evacuations, suspension of classes and instructions for buses to return students to designated stops.
  • Officials said 18 institutions were targeted — 16 in Mohali city and one each in Zirakpur and Kharar — including Yadavindra Public School, Learning Paths, Shivalik Public School and Manav Mangal.
  • Roughly 300 personnel with bomb disposal and anti‑sabotage teams conducted coordinated sweeps, completing checks in about two and a half hours with nothing suspicious recovered.
  • An FIR is being registered and the probe has been handed to the Cyber Police Station in Phase‑7, Mohali, to trace the origin of the threatening emails.
  • The alerts follow recent waves of school threats in Delhi and Chandigarh that largely proved hoaxes, and one report quoted incendiary language in a message with a 1:11 p.m. claim and a reference to Parliament.
