Boil-Water Advisory Expanded to Entire Westbank After Pressure Drop

A drop in system pressure that can admit contaminants has prompted officials to require precautionary boiling or bottled-water use until tests confirm safety.

Overview

  • The Sewerage & Water Board has issued a precautionary boil-water advisory covering the entire Westbank after detecting abnormally low pressure in parts of the system.
  • The problem began in Venetian Isles where pressure fell below 20 psi, a level utilities say can allow outside contamination to enter the water distribution network.
  • Crews are actively searching for the source of the pressure loss and have not yet identified a leak, and officials warned pressure may continue to fluctuate until repairs are complete.
  • Residents in affected areas should use bottled water or boil tap water for one full minute before drinking, cooking, cleaning food, or brushing teeth.
  • Officials will start water-quality testing once the cause is found and repairs are made and will notify the public when results allow the advisory to be lifted.
