Body Recovered From Brays Bayou Near University of Houston

The medical examiner will work to identify the person and determine cause of death as police probe whether the recovery is connected to a recent nearby homicide.

Overview

  • Emergency crews recovered a body from Brays Bayou near Martin Luther King Boulevard and South MacGregor Way after a passerby reported seeing a body about 7:05 a.m. Wednesday.
  • Responders pronounced the person dead at the scene and authorities have not released the individual’s identity or any description.
  • The county medical examiner will determine identity, manner and time of death while the Houston Police Department continues the active investigation.
  • Homicide detectives had opened a separate probe earlier in the week after a different person was found unconscious near Brays Bayou on the 7200 block of J.W. Peavy Drive and investigators have not confirmed a link between the two incidents.
  • Officials are asking anyone with information or relevant video to contact the Houston Police Department as investigators canvass the area and process the scene.
