Overview
- Specialist officers recovered a woman’s body near New Walk at about 1:30pm on October 22.
- North Yorkshire Police said the body is believed to be that of the woman reported missing earlier in the day.
- The search began after the family raised concerns for her safety, focusing on the stretch south of the Ouse–Foss confluence.
- The Yorkshire and Humber Marine and Underwater Search Unit led the recovery with support from York Rescue Boat and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
- Police cordons affected riverside footpaths between the Blue Bridge and Millennium Bridge, and officers turned back recreational boats in the area.
