Boca Raton Woman Charged After Allegedly Biting Husband's Ear on I-95

Authorities say the husband was hospitalized with a detached ear piece recovered for possible reattachment.

Overview

  • The Florida Highway Patrol says the alleged attack happened on Aug. 15 as the couple drove north on I-95 near Hillsboro Boulevard after a boat party.
  • Police say 43-year-old Amy Arlene Baker bit a portion of her husband’s right ear, the husband drove to West Boca Medical Center, and medical staff received the detached tissue for possible reattachment.
  • Troopers identified Baker as the primary aggressor, arrested her and charged her with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability and child neglect.
  • A magistrate found probable cause to charge Baker and court records report she was released on bond with a judge-ordered no-contact restriction except for arranging child custody.
  • The couple’s 7-year-old and 1-year-old were in the car during the incident, child-welfare authorities were notified, and investigators continue to review the case.
