Bob Carter Named West Indies Batting Consultant

CWI says he will upgrade coaching curricula by embedding new batting modules to lift technical standards before a packed international schedule.

Overview

  • Carter began a one-year contract that took effect on September 1, 2026, and has already started his duties with a territory tour planned for later in September.
  • His remit covers the senior men’s and women’s teams plus age-group programmes so he can work directly with players and local coaches across the region.
  • Carter will visit all six first-class Caribbean territories — Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands — to assess batting talent and coaching capacity.
  • CWI says the hire is timed to boost technical batting ahead of a congested calendar that includes the Men’s ICC World Cup Qualifier in February–March 2027 and at least six global events over the next 24–30 months.
  • Carter brings more than three decades of elite coaching experience from New Zealand and English county cricket and CWI will judge success by improved coaching skills and curriculum uptake rather than quick changes to the international batting order.
