Bo Nix Poised to Resume On-Field Work at Broncos’ Mid‑June Minicamp

Coach Sean Payton says Nix’s recovery will be tested in live reps to help Denver assess his surgically repaired ankle and the team’s quarterback depth.

Overview

  • Payton said Thursday that Bo Nix is on track to take part in the Broncos’ mandatory minicamp from June 16–18 and is expected to have a larger practice role then.
  • Nix attended the first week of OTAs but did not take team reps; media observed him walking and tossing a ball off to the side without an obvious brace.
  • The quarterback fractured his right ankle on Jan. 17, had surgery three days later, and underwent a follow-up cleanup procedure in April as part of his rehab.
  • Newwide receiver Jaylen Waddle is already being integrated into the offense and is expected to begin working with Nix by minicamp to build on-field chemistry.
  • With Nix limited, Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger are receiving extra reps in a bid for the backup job, the team reported 100% OTA attendance, will skip joint practices, and plans to keep Jonah Elliss primarily at outside linebacker.
