BMW Freezes 2026 Hypercar Roster, Shuffles IMSA Pairings as WRT Takes Over

Overview

• BMW retains the same eight works drivers for 2026 across the FIA WEC and IMSA WeatherTech championships.
• IMSA GTP pairings change to Sheldon van der Linde with Dries Vanthoor in the No. 24 and Philipp Eng with Marco Wittmann in the No. 25.
• WEC lineups stay intact: No. 15 with Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello and Vanthoor, and No. 20 with Robin Frijns, René Rast and van der Linde.
• Endurance roles are set with Frijns (No. 24) and Magnussen (No. 25) as third drivers for Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, while Rast joins the No. 24 and Marciello the No. 25 for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
• Team WRT replaces Team RLL to run BMW’s IMSA effort and will operate the updated M Hybrid V8 in both series, featuring a revised front end with smaller kidney grilles, with Vanthoor and van der Linde doubling up except for a Long Beach–Imola calendar clash.
