Overview
- A green BMW drove into a ground-floor flat at Ryehill House in The Meadows, Nottingham, in the hours between 9pm and 10pm on Friday night.
- Officers set up a police cordon and ordered residents from the three flats above the impacted apartment to evacuate because of fears about structural safety.
- Photographs from the scene show the car lodged in what appears to be a kitchen with brick debris, broken glass and a knocked-over street sign scattered inside and outside the block.
- Structural engineers were reported to be en route to inspect the building and Nottinghamshire Police are investigating; the cause of the crash and any injuries have not been publicly confirmed.
- Ryehill House is a four-storey block near the junction of Arkwright Walk and Meadows Way, and any findings from engineering checks could determine how long displaced residents remain away from their homes.
