Overview
- BMW confirmed the final G29 Z4 has rolled off Magna Steyr’s assembly line in Graz, Austria, ending production of the two-seat convertible.
- With the 8 Series Convertible winding down, the 4 Series is now the only convertible left in BMW’s lineup.
- BMW has not announced a successor, and BMWBLOG reports a next-generation Z4 is not expected soon.
- Z4 demand peaked in 2019 at 15,827 cars, fell to 9,744 in 2025, then ticked up 4.9% in early 2026 to 2,555 deliveries after a Final Edition signaled the runout.
- The Z4 was built by contract manufacturer Magna Steyr, a model BMW uses for niche cars as EU CO2 limits and a shift to electrification make gas roadsters harder to justify.
