BMW Builds Its Two-Millionth Electric Vehicle

BMW relies on mixed-build lines to match shifting regional EV demand.

Overview

  • BMW Group marked its two-millionth battery-electric vehicle with a BMW i5 M60 xDrive built at Plant Dingolfing and allocated to a customer in Spain across BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands.
  • Since 2021, Dingolfing has built more than 320,000 EVs across the iX, i5 and i7 lines, representing about one in six of BMW’s two million and over a quarter of the plant’s 2025 output.
  • Under its iFACTORY approach, BMW produces combustion, hybrid and electric models on the same lines, with at least one all-electric model now built at every German plant.
  • BMW says its output helps make Germany the world’s second-largest EV production location behind China.
  • BMW reported 442,072 EV deliveries in 2025, with strong growth in Europe but declines in the United States and China, and it expects electric models to reach at least half of sales by 2030.
