BMW 7 Series Facelift Adds Neue Klasse Tech and Longer‑Range i7

The update signals BMW's toolbox approach to seeding Neue Klasse hardware into current flagships.

Overview

  • The refreshed 7 Series, unveiled Wednesday at Auto China in Beijing, brings the i7 a new Gen6 cylindrical‑cell battery with 112.5 kWh usable capacity and up to 250 kW DC charging on a 400‑volt system.
  • BMW lists WLTP ranges above 700 km for the i7 50 and 60 variants and about 650 km for the M70, with motor hardware carried over from the Gen5 units.
  • Inside, a Panoramic Vision display spans the base of the windshield under Operating System X, a standard Passenger Screen debuts up front, and the optional Theatre Screen now supports 8K streaming.
  • Orders open in late May with German prices starting at €117,900 for the 740 xDrive and €121,400 for the i7 50 xDrive, production begins in July in Dingolfing, and plug‑in hybrids return in November 2026.
  • Staying on BMW’s CLAR platform keeps the i7 at 400 volts, which trails 800‑volt rivals on fast charging because many public chargers cap current near 500 A, limiting 400‑volt cars to about 200 kW in practice.
