BMC Lists Six Properties for E-Auction Over Rs 455.48 Crore Tax Dues, Issues 21-Day Notices to Two More

The civic body is enforcing its FY 2025–26 tax drive under MMC Act provisions to recover arrears before the March 31 deadline.

Overview

  • The Assessment & Collection department moved six defaulter assets to public e-auction and gave two Fort properties of Sardar Sayyadna Taher Saifuddin 21 days to pay dues of Rs 21.03 crore and Rs 13.48 crore, citing Section 206(2) of the MMC Act.
  • Non-payment after the notices will lead to attachment and sale under Sections 203–206 in line with a High Court-backed process following repeated reminders to defaulters.
  • The assets put up for auction carry a combined reserve value of Rs 455.48 crore across multiple city wards, reflecting an escalation in enforcement against major arrears.
  • The largest lot is a Goregaon West hotel owned by M/s Aamir Park & Amusement Pvt. Ltd., reserved at about Rs 268.16 crore.
  • The other auction lots are Bandra shops and offices (Rs 51.42 crore), a Dahisar residential plot (Rs 34.81 crore), Parle vacant land (Rs 34.14 crore), Jayant Oil Mills’ Mazgaon unit (Rs 23.20 crore), and a Malad-Kurar AC shed (Rs 9.23 crore), while BMC collections have reached Rs 5,426.81 crore toward a Rs 6,200 crore target.
