Overview
- Daulton Varsho was reinstated Saturday, June 20, and started in center field after a short injured-list stint for left-wrist inflammation.
- The team returned Varsho directly to the major-league roster without a minor-league rehab assignment after he quickly ramped up hitting and felt no wrist issues in recent days.
- To make room on the 26-man roster, Toronto optioned infielder Charles McAdoo to Triple-A Buffalo and also activated right-hander Lazaro Estrada from the 60-day injured list while optioning Brendon Little.
- Right-hander Shane Bieber is expected to be activated and make his season debut Monday, and outfielder Addison Barger has begun facing live pitching as he works toward a rehab assignment.
- The club added outfield depth at Triple-A by signing Rhylan Thomas while Varsho’s return restores a top defensive center fielder and a regular bat (he was slashing .256/.331/.408 with five home runs before the injury).
