Overview
- Blizzard unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever at BlizzCon and will open a public beta on Thursday, Sept. 17, ahead of a PC launch scheduled for November 4.
- The game freezes character leveling at 1–60 and adds an account-wide Legacy system with three launch trees—Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness—that grant XP boosts, resource gains, and cosmetic rewards.
- A new Camping/Campsite system links professions to world gameplay by letting players place crafted campsite objects learned at skill level 20 and from dungeon blueprints to grant one-hour buffs, vendor access, repairs, and profession workspaces.
- Blizzard is replacing traditional realms with playstyle-based groupings (Normal, PvP, Roleplay), plans a separate Hardcore ruleset later, and intends to preserve repeated social encounters through language and continuity tools.
- Combat stays closer to Classic with slower, tactical encounters, computational in-combat add-ons will be restricted, and optional shared transmogrification and universal dungeon appearance drops will change loot competition and long-term social and economy patterns.
