Overview
- Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Forever at BlizzCon on Saturday, Sept. 12, and opened playable demos on the show floor while confirming a public beta starting Thursday, Sept. 17 and a global launch on Nov. 4.
- Forever runs in a fixed ‘‘time bubble’’ set during year one of WoW and keeps the level cap at 60 indefinitely to enable horizontal growth instead of advancing the main WoW story.
- At launch Blizzard plans three new zones, more than 1,000 quests, nine dungeons, two raids (10‑ and 20‑player), a new PvP battleground, new professions and reputations, upgraded world visuals, and the Skyborne Elves playable race.
- Core access to Forever is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription while optional paid upgrade packs sold on Battle.net will add premium perks such as early beta access and a Skyborne race unlock priced around $29.99.
- Forever builds on the Classic team's experiments like Season of Discovery and adds community‑focused systems — Legacy progression, campsite crafting buffs, optional transmog, SD/HD model toggle, gamepad support and selectable rulesets — as Blizzard tests running Modern, Classic and Forever side by side.
