Blizzard Releases World of Warcraft Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek

It opens the Coiled Isle with a zone-specific talent tree plus new instances that change endgame difficulty and reset rhythms ahead of Season 2.

Overview

  • Patch 12.1 is live and adds the Coiled Isle zone with a new island-specific talent tree that grants perks such as Venomwalking to reduce venom damage.
  • The update introduces a new Lair, the Tidebound Grotto, and a new dungeon, the Altar of Fangs, while rotating other dungeons including Den of Nalorakk and Ruby Life Pools.
  • Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeon difficulties are available now, with Mythic 0 dropping item level 292 gear and operating on a weekly reset until Season 2 changes the cadence.
  • Quality-of-life and social features include Blueprint codes for sharing player housing designs, a Pet Bed that lets certain pets roam inside houses, and Arenas added to Training Grounds for safer PvP practice.
  • Season 2 will begin on August 18 and will add the Venomous Abyss raid, Mythic+ Season 2, PvP Season 2, Great Vault rewards, a daily Mythic 0 reset, and flexible scaling for the new Lair, shifting how players approach endgame progression.
