Blizzard Opens Review After Allegation a GM Used Developer Powers to Help Mythic+ Run

The company launched the probe after community forensic checks and a streamed admission raised questions about misuse of staff-only abilities in a timed Mythic+23 clear.

Overview

  • Players flagged a suspicious Warcraft Logs record, first posted July 21, that showed an abrupt 'Area Death (TEST)' instakill linked to the account Daijosai during a Nexus‑Point Xenas Mythic+23 run.
  • Wowhead analysis found the same account used developer-only effects including 'Area Death' at about 89.3% mob health and a 'Death Touch' on boss Lothraxion near 1.4% health.
  • Third‑party trackers such as Raider.io matched timestamps to a real completed run, making a doctored log or simple bug less likely based on multiple independent checks.
  • A group member admitted on a YumyTV Twitch stream that they asked a Blizzard employee to one‑shot an enemy, and clips of that admission spread across social platforms.
  • Blizzard community manager Randy 'Kaivax' Jordan confirmed the studio is reviewing the reports and will take action as appropriate, with the investigation still open and no sanctions announced yet.
