Overview
- Coach Philip Snyman announced the 14-player travelling squad on Thursday and confirmed Dewald Human and Gino Cupido have been cleared from injury and added for the final two HSBC SVNS World Championship events.
- Human has been selected as an extra flyhalf to manage the quick turnaround between tournaments and Cupido replaces Donavan Don at centre to give the team more height and a different midfield look.
- Three players remain unavailable with injuries: Christie Grobbelaar (calf), Nabo Sokoyi (shoulder) and Zander Reynders (shoulder).
- The squad that will travel to Valladolid and then Bordeaux includes Impi Visser (captain), Ryan Oosthuizen, Zain Davids, Selvyn Davids, Shilton van Wyk and others, and South Africa are drawn in Pool A with Great Britain, Kenya and Australia in Valladolid.
- The changes follow the Blitzboks’ Hong Kong tournament win and reflect a focus on fitness, specialist cover and depth to avoid slow starts and protect player workloads across back-to-back fixtures.
