Overview
- Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 11:30 p.m. Friday to a commercial building on Waterloo Road and initially deployed 15 fire engines.
- Firefighters used six breathing apparatus and two ground monitors to tackle the blaze, and by Saturday night two engines and an aerial ladder platform remained to dampen hotspots.
- Smart Mart and Smart Play Blackpool said the premises and play area were completely destroyed, and no injuries have been reported.
- Police maintained cordons and evacuations, and current closures include Gordon Street, Waterloo Road between Bond Street and Moore Street, and Rawcliffe Street between Bond Street and Moore Street.
- Smart Play told customers deposits will be refunded, while Smart Mart asked those awaiting orders to send receipt copies after paperwork was lost in the fire.
