Blackburn Home Bargains Death: Connor Doyle Appears in Court on Manslaughter Charge

The case now moves to crown court with police yet to trace the victim's family.

Overview

  • Doyle appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court for a brief first hearing and was remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing set for May 6 at Preston Crown Court.
  • Police say 35-year-old Polish national Marek Krygier was injured in an altercation outside the Home Bargains on Byrom Street, then collapsed and died the next day at Royal Preston Hospital, with a postmortem citing a head injury.
  • Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder during the inquiry, with Doyle later charged with manslaughter and the other, aged 44, released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
  • Detectives are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam, CCTV, or mobile footage from the area between 4pm and 9pm on the day of the altercation, and ask people to quote log 0936 of March 30 when calling 101 or to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
  • Officers say they have not yet identified Mr Krygier's next of kin and want anyone who knew him to come forward to help reach his family.
