Overview
- Hariprasad formally assumed the KPCC presidency at a mega convention at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds on Sunday, with Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar presenting the party flag.
- Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge publicly alleged that about ₹5,000 crore was misused in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir project and demanded a prompt investigation, questioning a 15-day inquiry announced by the Uttar Pradesh government.
- The party presented the installation as the launch of an organised campaign for the five Greater Bengaluru Authority city corporations and upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections, and asked the state government to reconstitute boards and corporations to favour party workers.
- Leaders warned about the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and cited large voter deletions elsewhere as a risk, with Shivakumar urging workers to fill enumeration forms and protect voter lists; Kharge also ordered strict discipline and threatened action over disruptive sloganeering.
- Shivakumar announced the return of student body elections this academic year and creation of five-member guarantee committees in gram panchayats and wards to check beneficiary documents, while Hariprasad’s re-election to the Legislative Council and his national party experience position him to steer organisation ahead of 2028.
