Overview
- The BJP released its fifth slate for the West Bengal Assembly, naming five candidates.
- The nominees include former state vice-president Anindya Raju Banerjee for Madhyamgram, along with Saurav Sikdar for Dum Dum Uttar, Taraknath Chatterjee for Krishnanagar Uttar, Anupam Biswas for Kalyani and Rudraprasad Banerjee for Uluberia Purba.
- Responding to protests by party workers, the party replaced earlier picks in three seats, naming Shankar Sikdar in Behala Purba, Kaushik Sidharth in Basirhat Uttar and Abhijit Sardar in Bishnupur (SC).
- With this round, the BJP has announced 292 candidates for the state's 294 seats.
- Voting will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, and counting is set for May 4.
