BJP Launches Kerala Campaign in Nemom as Rajeev Chandrasekhar Signals Bid for Seat

Party sources say a first shortlist covers about 35 seats pending approval by the national leadership.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar kicked off the effort in Nemom, writing the slogan “Namukku venam Vikasitha Nemom” on a wall to mark the start of the campaign.
He reiterated his desire to contest from the constituency while stressing that the decision on his candidacy rests with the BJP's national leadership, which he said he informed two months ago.
The BJP became the first party to begin its Kerala Assembly election campaign with Sunday's launch in Thiruvananthapuram's Nemom.
An initial shortlist for roughly 35 constituencies includes senior leaders such as V. Muraleedharan, K. Surendran, Sobha Surendran and P. K. Krishnadas, according to party sources.
Nemom remains a pivotal seat, shifting from a BJP win in 2016 to a CPI(M) victory in 2021, with the BJP securing stronger vote totals there in the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 local body polls.
