BJP Fields Namoshi, Sankanur, Suresh for Karnataka Council Graduates and Teachers Polls
The slate positions the party to defend two seats, with a challenge to the JD-S in the South East Graduates' constituency.
Overview
- The BJP Central Election Committee named Shashil G. Namoshi for North East Teachers', S.V. Sankanur for West Graduates', and K.M. Suresh for South East Graduates', in an announcement issued by Arun Singh.
- Namoshi has represented the North East Teachers' constituency since November 2020 and chairs the Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society.
- Sankanur currently holds the West Graduates' seat covering Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Uttara Kannada.
- Suresh, a Davanagere-based educationist and close aide of B.S. Yediyurappa, will contest the South East Graduates' seat now held by JD-S MLC R. Chowda Reddy Thoopalli.
- The Council has 75 members with Congress at 37, BJP at 29 and JD-S at 7, and the contests unfold in specialized Teachers' and Graduates' electorates as Congress eyes the Chair now held by BJP's Basavaraj Horatti.
