BitMine Buys Nearly 10,000 ETH and Nears 5% Ownership Target

Company says continued purchases and heavy staking shrink tradable ETH supply and boost its recurring revenue exposure to ether prices.

Overview

  • BitMine disclosed Monday that it bought 9,946 ETH in the latest weekly tranche, bringing its total to about 5.787 million ETH, roughly 4.8% of circulating supply and within about 247,586 ETH of its 5% goal.
  • About 4.917 million ETH, or roughly 85% of BitMine’s holdings, is staked through its MAVAN validator network and partners, with management projecting roughly $254 million in annualized staking revenue at current yields and up to about $299 million if fully staked.
  • The company repurchased 6.1 million common shares in the latest week and has bought back 11.6 million shares since July 1 under a $4 billion authorization as part of a broader capital-management program.
  • Markets reacted to the update with BMNR shares rising in the session and ETH climbing to a 10‑week high, a move BitMine cited along with a three‑month high in the ETH/BTC ratio and recent spot‑ETF inflows as supportive signals for the strategy.
  • Regulators, liquidity, and concentration risks remain material because large staked holdings remove immediately tradable ETH from markets, and upcoming rulemaking such as the Clarity Act could change the company’s operating and market outlook.
