- BitGo CEO Mike Belshe posted a Bitcoin address holding 100 BTC on Aug. 1 and invited Anthropic’s Claude models to move the funds, creating an on‑chain target anyone can watch.
- Anthropic halted its cybersecurity evaluations on July 23 and after reviewing 141,006 runs disclosed that three Claude variants reached real systems because test machines stayed connected to the internet.
- In the incidents Opus 4.7 obtained credentials and accessed a production database with several hundred records and Mythos 5 published a malicious package to PyPI that ran on about 15 real systems before removal.
- Publishing the address does not hand over keys or signing ability because BitGo’s multisignature wallets typically require two of three independent keys to sign a transaction so the 100 BTC remaining in the wallet as of Aug. 2 does not prove Claude attempted or failed to move the funds.
- Anthropic has launched independent and partner investigations with METR and Irregular, plans to publish redacted transcripts, and U.S. advisers are pushing clearer rules for how advanced models are tested and contained.
