Bison Futé Warns of Heavy Friday Traffic During Spring Break Crossover

Overlapping school breaks are set to squeeze travel into short peak windows.

Overview

  • The spring break chassé-croisé, which runs April 17–19, brings overlapping departures and returns that load peak hours.
  • Bison Futé projects the busiest flows on Friday with orange alerts for departures from Île-de-France and returns into Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
  • Drivers returning toward Lyon are urged to avoid the A7 from Orange to Lyon from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., the A48 between Grenoble and Bourgoin-Jallieu from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the A41, A43 and A46 east bypass in the late afternoon.
  • In the Paris region, traffic builds on Friday on the A10 and A6, and leaving before 10 a.m. or after 9 p.m. can help avoid the worst.
  • Saturday is expected to be calmer except around Paris on the A10, A6 and A13 from mid-morning into mid-afternoon, and Sunday is forecast green nationwide.
