Birmingham Declares July 22 Ozzy Day With Citywide Music, Art and Tributes

The organised programme is designed to embed Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy in public places and create a lasting civic record of his ties to the city.

Overview

  • Organisers Central BID and OPUS, working with Birmingham City Council, Birmingham New Street and Westside BID, published the full programme for a free, city-centre commemoration called Ozzy Day.
  • The day will stage pop-up brass sets by Bostin Brass and a lunchtime performance by musicians from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Bullring to bring live music into main public sites.
  • OPUS has commissioned a series of short films to be screened across the city and Birmingham Music Archive will collect fan stories and a guestbook that will form part of the event’s lasting record.
  • Fans can visit landmarks tied to Osbourne’s story, see the Working Class Hero exhibition and buy a limited-edition Ozzy Day T-shirt at Selfridges, features that link the celebration to physical places and merchandise.
  • The programme on July 22, 2026 builds on last year’s funeral procession and the ‘Back To The Beginning’ farewell concert and follows civic honours such as Black Sabbath’s Freedom of the City and a posthumous BRITs lifetime award.
