Overview
- Nodes running BIP-110 enforcement began rejecting non-signaling blocks at block height 961,632 on Saturday, and at least one report says those nodes split from the main Bitcoin chain.
- Public miner signaling for BIP-110 remains extremely low at about 2.6 percent, far below the 55 percent threshold the proposal needs to lock in by miner vote.
- Developers warn that transactions spending coins on any BIP-110 minority chain can be replayed on the main chain because BIP-110 does not add automatic replay protection until its rules activate at block 965,664.
- Bitcoin Knots cautioned that running enforcing and non-enforcing software together can leave a node’s chainstate unsafe and may require reindexing or other recovery steps for operators.
- The minority branch currently appears to lack meaningful mining power so its economic value is uncertain, and exchanges, wallets, and custodians are pausing or preparing safeguards while coordination among miners and service providers will decide which chain, if any, gains market recognition.
