Bimota Unveils KB399, a Premium ZX-4RR-Based Middleweight

The Italian marque extends its Kawasaki partnership to a low-volume sportbike positioned as an upscale alternative to the donor model.

Overview

  • Bimota revealed the KB399 in two versions, with the ES variant distinguished by dry carbon bodywork and additional billet components.
  • The bike retains Kawasaki’s 399cc inline-four from the Ninja ZX-4RR, though Bimota has not disclosed KB399 output figures.
  • Hardware upgrades include a fully adjustable 41 mm Showa SFF-BP fork, a Showa BFRC-lite rear shock on the standard model, and an Ohlins STX46 rear shock on the ES.
  • Stopping power comes from radially mounted Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust is fitted as standard.
  • The design is a complete Italian rework inspired by the KB998 Rimini with integrated winglets, while features reported include a quickshifter, three-level traction control, a steel trellis frame, and an approximate weight of 189 kg.
