Bilt 2.0 Launches With Three New Cards as Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard Is Deactivated

Members now earn housing rewards via ACH payments powered by a new Bilt Cash system that replaces charging rent to a credit line.

Overview

  • Card activation begins Feb. 7, the Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard stopped working Feb. 6, and eligible balances are slated to transfer to new Bilt 2.0 accounts on Feb. 8.
  • Housing payments made through Bilt are now debited from a linked bank account via ACH, removing credit-line float and keeping rent or mortgage charges off the card.
  • Bilt Cash, earned at 4% on everyday purchases on eligible setups, is required to unlock up to 1x points on housing at a rate of $30 in Bilt Cash per $1,000 of housing, a rule that often equates to roughly 75% nonhousing spend.
  • Users must select either a Flexible Bilt Cash path or a tiered Housing-Only structure for earning on rent or mortgages, a choice that added complexity and fueled early confusion among some customers.
  • An exclusive TPG offer provides 5x points on nonhousing purchases for five days starting Feb. 7 (up to 50,000 points), as reviewers spotlight the Palladium’s value proposition with a 50,000‑point bonus plus Bilt Cash perks.
