Billingham Butcher’s Worker Given Suspended Sentence for Cannabis Dealing Using Grandmother’s Address

The suspended term signals the court’s emphasis on mitigation over custody.

Overview

  • Daniel Harrison, 33, was sentenced Tuesday at Teesside Crown Court to 12 months in prison suspended for 18 months with 100 hours of unpaid work and 25 rehabilitation days.
  • Police uncovered the case after intercepting a parcel with just over 500g of cannabis in Coventry that was addressed to his grandmother’s home in May 2022, which led to raids at two linked properties.
  • Officers later found 218.3g of cannabis, £336.05 in cash, drug scales and a suspected debt list, and during arrest he told police it was “only a bit of green.”
  • Harrison admitted possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of criminal property in February 2026 after investigators flagged £54,875.50 of deposits despite his butcher’s wage of about £1,800 a month.
  • Recorder Marco Giuliani said using his grandmother’s address put her at risk of arrest, and the outcome underscores that supplying a Class B drug can draw custody even when judges credit guilty pleas and steady work.
