Bihar STF Arrests Alleged Bishnoi Gang Associate After Masaurhi Encounter

Police describe an intelligence-led move under Operation Langda targeting extortion rackets across Bihar–Jharkhand.

Overview

  • Parmanand Yadav, identified by police as a key associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi network, was shot in the leg and taken into custody during a pre-dawn exchange of fire in Masaurhi.
  • Yadav is under treatment at PMCH, with officials stating he is wanted in more than 15–20 serious cases that include extortion, murder, dacoity and loot across Bihar and Jharkhand.
  • Officers said they recovered a 9 mm pistol, cartridges, a motorcycle, mobile phones and identity documents from Yadav, with additional seizures from other suspects that included a revolver, cash, a passport and Nepali currency.
  • A joint STF–Patna police operation first detained three suspects in the Beur area, then tracked Yadav to Masaurhi, with authorities reporting no police injuries during the encounter.
  • Investigators cite links to Rahul Singh and Maoist outfits, note a December 11 Malaysia trip to meet associates, reference recent extortion cases including a ₹5 crore demand in Buxar, and say further raids and arrests are expected.
