Overview
- The Bihar Cabinet, which met Wednesday in Patna under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved 22 proposals spanning urban planning, policing, tourism and skills.
- To enforce Master Plan growth, the government froze land sale, purchase, transfer, construction and development in selected township zones, with bans in Patna, Sonepur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Purnia and Munger until March 31, 2027, and in Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Bhagalpur and Sitamarhi until June 30, 2027, alongside approval for 11 new greenfield satellite townships.
- Police modernisation will add 1,500 scooters for women and 3,200 motorcycles for men at Rs 66.75 crore, plus a new ERSS and state police data centre in Patna’s Rajiv Nagar at Rs 172.80 crore under the Home Department led by the Chief Minister.
- Tourism moves include an administrative sanction of Rs 680 crore to build a corridor around the Baba Hariharnath temple in Sonepur on the Kashi Vishwanath model, with 15 acres in Tarapur shifted to the Tourism Department for cultural and pilgrim facilities.
- Skills and research funding included PM-SETU to upgrade 75 government ITIs at Rs 3,615 crore with a Rs 1,192.95 crore state share, plus Rs 305 crore for an IIT Patna research park and Rs 39.01 crore for its incubator.
