Overview
- On Saturday Bezzecchi crashed at Turn 3 in the Brno Sprint and, according to multiple onboard and broadcast angles, rushed back as marshals lifted his Aprilia, pushed a marshal and struck him while switching off the engine.
- The FIM MotoGP stewards found the conduct ‘‘prejudicial to the interests of the sport’’ and imposed a suspension from the remainder of the Czech Grand Prix under Article 3.3.2.2.
- Aprilia lodged an immediate appeal to the FIM Appeal Stewards but the appeal was rejected and the team confirmed it would not pursue the matter further.
- Bezzecchi issued a public apology, visited the marshal at Turn 3 to apologise in person and gave the marshal his gloves and a team shirt as a gesture of remorse.
- The incident had immediate sporting consequences: Martin gained sprint points to cut Bezzecchi’s lead to 15 points and Sunday’s race further reduced the margin to eight points, while the episode has intensified debate about marshal safety and disciplinary precedent given Bezzecchi’s 2022 fine for a similar clash.
