Bengaluru Sets Feb. 17 Auction for 7,000+ Properties Over Rs 437 Crore in Tax Arrears

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has opened an online portal so owners can pay outstanding taxes to avert auction.

  • GBA Chief Commissioner Mahadeshwara Rao said 7,020 properties are being auctioned after demand notices and attachment orders failed to secure payment.
  • The sale is scheduled for February 17 and will be conducted at the offices of the respective Zonal Joint Commissioners across all five city zones.
  • The defaulter list is posted at BBMPTax.karnataka.gov.in, where owners can check their status and clear dues online to halt proceedings.
  • Base tax pending by division: East Rs 48.98 crore, West Rs 35.83 crore, Central Rs 34.26 crore, North Rs 32.77 crore, South Rs 30.04 crore.
  • Outstanding sums include base tax plus Rs 46.32 crore in cess, Rs 74.91 crore interest, Rs 131.80 crore penalties, and Rs 260 crore in solid-waste fees; BBMP collected Rs 4,930 crore in 2024–25 and projects Rs 6,000 crore in 2025–26.
