Bengaluru Police Bust Fake Stock-Investment Call Centre, Arrest Two

Digital forensics led officers to a Jayanagar office posing as Multiwave Business Solutions.

Overview

  • Central Division Cyber Crime Police raided the Anjanadri Avenue site in Jayanagar 9th Block and shut the operation.
  • Police named the accused as Kumawat Yogesh Amararam, a Jayanagar resident from Surat, and Imran, a BTM Layout resident from Delhi.
  • The outfit hired about 15 out-of-state callers who pitched lucrative stock returns, took transfers to designated accounts, then cut contact.
  • Investigators traced a complainant’s call to BTM Layout, identified the phone’s IMEI, linked a Google email to Kumawat, and used location data to pinpoint the premises.
  • Officers seized 31 mobile phones, 13 laptops and 16 SIM cards, and interrogation indicates funds moved through multiple mule accounts; a case under IT Act Section 66(r) and BNS Section 318(4) is registered with efforts underway to find more victims and trace the money flow.
