Bengaluru Police Arrest Four Over Home Robbery by Fake Officers

Police say a special team used CCTV with technical leads to track the suspects, recovering cash and vehicles.

Overview

  • The December 7 incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at a flat in Narasipura Layout, Vidyaranyapura, where three men entered posing as police, including one in a Sub-Inspector uniform.
  • The attackers accused the 25-year-old resident of selling drugs, assaulted him, seized ₹55,000 in cash, and forced an online transfer of ₹87,000.
  • Deputy Commissioner of Police Sajeeth VJ said a robbery case was registered under BNS Section 311 before a special team verified the impersonation via CCTV and other technical evidence.
  • Police arrested Mallikarjun S (27), Promod V (30), Vinay H T (36), and Hruthvik P (24), and seized ₹45,000, a car, and a two-wheeler; the accused also recorded video during the search.
